If you want to save time when creating Collections, particularly when you have specific settings you use regularly; Pixieset offers the option to create templates, saved as ‘defaults’ via our Collection Defaults feature. This allows you to save your preferences across the different Collection settings including Design, Privacy, Download, Favorite, and Store. Once you’ve created a Collection Default, you quickly apply your preferred Collection settings as a template when creating a new collection.

For example, you may wish to use a specific watermark for all of your wedding shoots, or collect client email registrations for visitors to your landscape photography Collections. This article will help you to get started with creating Collection Defaults for your various Collection types.

On this page:

Creating a Collection Default

To create a new default:

  1. Click the Defaults tab

  2. Click the New Default button and give it a name.

Configure your Collection Default Settings

Next, you'll see 6 different categories on the left-hand side that each provides a number of different options to configure your Collection Default settings!

Collection Settings: Collection Settings refer to general aspects of the Collection, including pre-creating Category Tags, customizing Photo Set names, setting a Default Watermark, and turning Email Registration on. You can also choose to add Gallery Assist, include Social Sharing Buttons, set up an Auto Expiry Reminder Email, and even select a default Language.

Design: The Design category allows you to set a Cover Style along with a number of other design options, including Typography, Color, Grid Style, Thumbnail Size, and Navigation Style. This can help you to quickly apply a preferred design setup depending on the styles of shoot you offer, and to effectively and appropriately showcase your work for the client.

Privacy: Perhaps your typical wedding client would not like their Collection to be visible on your Homepage, or they may wish to prevent unauthorized access. Under the Privacy section, you can control whether a Collection Password will be automatically generated and if the collections will be visible or hidden on your Client Gallery Homepage.

Download: Within this area, you can manage the Photo and Video Download options and choose your photo download resolutions. You can also set a limited number of downloads and make downloads ‘client only’ from this section.

Favorite: These settings control whether clients are able to mark their favorite photos (Favorite Status), and if they can add a note to the photos they have favorited (Notes). This will ensure that your proofing preferences can be quickly applied to your new Collections, allowing you to streamline the process of creating the Collection and letting the client make their selections.

Store: Lastly, the Store category allows you to decide if the Pixieset Store is On by default (Store Status) and even select which specific Price Sheet will be assigned to these Collections. Additionally, if an Automatic Fulfillment Price Sheet is selected, you can choose to turn our Personalized Product Preview feature on or off. Determining these Store settings is as simple as choosing the appropriate Collection Default at the time you create the Collection, saving you time getting set up to make sales.

Applying Default Settings to a New Collection

The next time you click the + New Collection button within your Client Gallery Dashboard, you can easily select your preferred Collection Default from the drop-down menu and have the settings you've set up automatically applied!
