Pixieset Website has a wide range of privacy features available which are crafted to suit your specific needs. You can hide your Website from search engine results, restrict certain pages with passwords, hide pages from your menu, and even protect your entire Website with a single password.

On this page:

Password protecting your Website

If you'd like to limit your Pixieset Website to only a specific audience, you can assign a Site-Wide Password to your entire website. This means visitors will need to enter the correct password before they can access any of your Website's pages.

Steps:

1. From your left-hand Builder Panel, click Settings > Advanced. In the Site-Wide Password field, enter a unique, case-sensitive password.

2. Publish your Website to push the Site-Wide Password live.

When you have a Site Password set up, visitors who access your Website will be first greeted with a "You need a password to view this site" page requiring them to enter the correct, case-sensitive password before they can proceed to your Website.

Password protecting specific pages

If you'd like to keep a specific page of your Pixieset Website private, you can assign a unique Page Password to any individual page. This feature is available for users on any upgraded Website plan or Suite plan.

Steps:

1. From your left-hand Builder Panel, hover over the page that you'd like to apply a Page Password to, and click ••• > Settings.

3. Publish your Website to push the page's password live.

When you have a Page Password set up, visitors who access this specific page, whether through your Website or a direct link, will be first greeted with a "You need a password to view this page" page. They will be required to enter the correct, case-sensitive password before they can proceed to your page.

Hiding specific pages from your website's Site Menu

If you'd like to hide a specific page from your website's Site Menu while still having it live on your website, you can set this up using the page's Hide from Menu feature.

This means that visitors will only be able to access the page if they have been given the direct link for it, so it is a great option if you want to add an element of privacy to a particular page without actually requiring a password. This feature is also fantastic for keeping your menu neat and uncluttered!

You can still easily link visitors to a hidden page directly from an image, button or text on another page. For adding links to your Website, refer to our Adding Links to your Website guide.

Steps:

1. From your left-hand Builder Panel, hover over the applicable page, and click ••• > Hide from Menu. This will immediately remove the page from your menu, while still leaving it visible in your Pages panel.

2. Publish your Website to push the change live to your published site.

If you want to add a hidden page back to your Menu, simply find the page in the Not in Menu section, and select ••• > Show on Menu.

Note: You can also hide or unhide a page from its Page Settings (••• > Settings).

Taking a page offline from your published Website

If you'd like to take a page from your published Website offline, you can do so by changing its Page Status to Offline. Once this change is published, the page will be immediately removed from your Website and will no longer be accessible by visitors, even if they have the direct link. Your page will still be available to you from the Website Builder and can be switched back Online at any time.

Steps:

  1. From your left-hand Builder Panel, hover over the page that you'd like to take offline, and click ••• > Settings.

Hiding your Website from search engine results

If you do not want your Pixieset Website to appear in search engine results (e.g. Google, Bing, Yahoo), you can disable your website's Search Engine Visibility in your Website's SEO Manager:

1. Go to your Pixieset Website's SEO Manager by clicking Settings > SEO Manager.

2. On your SEO Manager's Site Overview page, scroll down to Search Engine Visibility and toggle it to Hidden.

3. Publish your Website to push the change to your live Website.

Note: Any changes made to your Website's Search Engine Visibility after it has already been indexed will take weeks to take effect, as Google and other search engines will need to re-index your pages. If you'd like additional privacy for your Website in the meantime, consider the other privacy options above.
