Understanding Shipping

Shipping is an important part of order fulfillment, and it works quite differently depending on whether you are using automatic fulfillment or self-fulfillment.

On this page:

Automatic fulfillment shipping

When using automatic fulfillment, orders are shipped directly to your client's address as entered at checkout. The order will be shipped through the shipping method they selected (e.g. FedEx 3 Day Select or DPD Courier Next Day). Since the shipping methods are provided by the print lab directly, no shipping setup is required on your side.

Shipping methods

The shipping methods available to your client at checkout are determined by your client’s shipping address and the items in their cart.

You can check the available shipping methods for automatic fulfillment by going to your Store > Shipping > Automatic fulfillment.

Shipping fees

Once your client enters their shipping address at checkout, they will see the available shipping methods and their costs under the Shipping Methods section. The shipping cost will be added to the order total and charged to your client.

Shipping fees take into account your client’s shipping address and the items in their cart. Additional fees may apply to larger items, orders requiring multiple shipments, delivery to remote areas, and during peak times.

Note: Pixieset will take the shipping amount paid by your client as cost of goods sold and pass it on to the print lab directly.

White label packaging

If you're using automatic fulfillment with one of our partnered print labs, orders are drop-shipped to your client directly in white-label packaging, giving them a seamless experience from start to finish. There will be no mention of the print lab on the shipping label, inside the box, or anywhere else (unless required by regulations in some countries).

Self fulfillment shipping

When selling through self fulfillment, you are responsible for ordering print products from your own preferred lab as well as arranging shipping to your clients. For this reason, you would set up your own products and shipping methods for your Store.

Note: Your shipping methods will determine which countries are available at the checkout. For example, if you only have a shipping method available for the United States, only customers from the United States will be able to checkout.
